Peter Campbell King
Peter Campbell King was greatly influenced by his father—longtime and well-respected Columbus attorney Arthur D. King— who instilled in him his tireless work ethic and uncompromising standard of excellence. He joined his father in the practice of law in 1979 and developed a community-based practice addressing civil law issues. Pete and his brother practiced with their father until he passed away in 2007. On any given day, Pete can be found in the boardroom of any one of the several regional water companies he represents or in the courtrooms of any level of our state and federal courts. He advocates for his clients' interests or confers with community leaders in both the private and public sectors, providing sound and reasoned counsel drawn from his years of experience and knowledge of the law.
From 1984 through 1995, he served as City Attorney for the City of Columbus. He cultivated a thriving practice in the areas of the law where he could help the people in his community: representing people in controversies with their insurance carriers, representing property owners in legal condemnation matters, representing people injured by negligent drivers and by defective products, and representing and advising fellow businessmen and women with civil litigation issues. He also maintains an active probate and estate practice.
Mr. King's client base extends beyond the private sector into the public sector arenas of utility law, law enforcement, and election law. He is legal counsel to regional water companies in southeastern Indiana, advising them in all areas of their operations, from litigation at the administrative level including the protection of water quality, administrative proceedings, and rate issues before the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC), to real estate and easement acquisition issues. Additionally, he represents the Sheriff of Bartholomew County, Indiana in personnel matters, administrative hearings and civil litigation, and the Bartholomew County Election Board.
